Sunday 3 June: Cream teas at North Crawley WALK CANCELLED

latest update; walk has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, cream teas are still on at North Crawley’s village hall at 3pm  

Walk itinerary:       
Meet in front of Cafe Bookshop,                                                                                                 Depart at 14:00 hours                                                                                                                     Return back circa 17.30  hours                                                                                                           Total walk length: circa 6.6 km (4 miles)                                                                                     Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for a walk on country footpaths – it may be muddy. Light rain expected – wear a waterproof jacket. 
There are some stiles to climb over.                                                                                                                                                       Cost – under £5 ( just checked by ksodo: exact cost unknown, bring a change with you for cream teas

Special invite from our friends from the North Crawley’s Historical Society: Join us for a stroll across the field to North Crawley where at the village hall traditional English cream teas will be served from 15.00 hours as part of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, 2012 celebrations. Followed by a visit to the flower display at St. Firmin’s Church, North Crawley.

Last year students enjoying a visit to Lodge Farm

Take a break from your studies – join us for a short walk to  Angela’s farm shop at Lodge Farm. Expect some delicious cakes and ice cream!

A great opportunity to ask Angela about Lodge Farm’s non-homegenised milk, say hello to the cows  and chickens or have a go at the trampoline.

Green Week is taking place on Cranfield campus this week – take part in events organised by Cranfield University Walks

1) Lunchtime biodiversity walk around Cranfield campus                                                              Walk itinerary: 
Meet in front of Cafe Bookshop,                                                 Depart at 13.10 hours                                                                 Return 14.00 hours                                                                      There is no cost associated with attending this walk, just turn up.

Lunch break with a difference! Learn about the fauna and flora on Cranfield campus from our walk leader, Alan Nelson from School of Applied Sciences – an expert on dragonflies and an experienced bat surveyor.

Saturday 14 April: walk & shop – Great Barford to Bedford

A lovely walk along the River Ouse  followed by a  stop at  a local outdoor shop – perfect for those needing to do last-minute purchase before the  upcoming Lake District trip!-)

Walk itinerary:       
Meet in front of the Main Reception                                                                                              Depart at 13 hours                                                                                                                         
Total walk length: circa 8 km (5  miles)                                                                                   Return: circa 17:30 hours                                                                                                           Refreshment stop at Danish Camp cafe                                                                                         In wet weather conditions; please wear waterproof boots or bring a change of shoes/socks as your feet will get wet.    

Cost: £7 for members of Cranfield University’s walking society, non-members £10
Book your place at the Cranfield Students’ Association’s office, 1st floor                            Show you membership card to claim a discounted rate when booking a place.

We are going to start in the village of Great Barford, famous by its medieval bridge. Break at Danish Camp  – described as Bedfordshire’s best kept secret (we might spot a European eagle owl there), followed by a stop to admire the historical Dovecote. Walk finishes at Outdoor store at Goldington Road, Bedford, for some afternoon outdoor shopping. Perfect if you like to try on new walking boots!

Easter Sunday walk: Weston Underwood

High Street in Weston Underwood

A walk organised by Ouse Valley Ramblers and Bedford Rambling Club); exploring the countryside around the pretty village of Weston Underwood, situated two miles south of Olney. Weston Underwood is a record winner for the best kept village in Buckinghamshire award. 

Walk itinerary Sunday 8 April:
Meet in front of Cafe Bookshop  at 9.15 am      or 10.00 am – at Cowper’s Oak, High Street, Weston Underwood.
Total walk length: under 10 km (6 miles)  Return: circa 13.30 hours hours Bring a snack (e.g a banana, biscuits) and a drink. Optional stop for a drink in a pub at the end of the walk. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for a walk on country footpaths – it may be muddy. Free walk (no attendance fee). Transport – car sharing: if you like to book a car seat or have a car place to offer, please contact us.
