We hope you have enjoyed the walks that we have had until now as much as us. We are looking forward to sharing with you more experiences after Christmas. Always remember that we are more than happy to receive events proposals and new volunteers for the Society’s committee.
Enjoy the holidays, get some fat insulation for the winter walks (I know it’s tough eating so much during Christmas, but we all have to make the effort), and ask Santa for some good hiking gear.
Update : Now with guided tour of Bedford!
Bedford’s River Great Ouze offers a wealth of enjoyment from the showpiece of the town’s embankment to the peace of the English countryside to the East and the West.
See the rolling countryside, starting at the old Kempston mill, continuing to the immaculate embankment gardens and fine water meadowland, watching the rowing and water borne activities that have made the river an integral part of the life of North Bedfordshire.
After we will return to the centre of Bedford for a guided tour of Bedford, with lots of interesting facts about Bedford’s buildings and previous inhabitants. Finally we will return to Harpur Square to enjoy the sights and smells of the Bedford Victorian market and get into the festive mood for christmas!

Our walk on 3rd December to the Forest Centre and St Mary’s church at Marston was our last big walk organised before Christmas. We are taking a well deserved winter break from now until the second half of February 2012.
I would like to thank all our walk leaders, our committee and all members of the walking society for making our walking events between the months of September and December this year so memorable.
Whilst no more “Cranfield University walks” for now, we are already planing events to take place in the new year 2012. And don’t forget that our T-shirt design competition is still running – you have a chance to win £50 outdoor shop voucher.
I also hope you will feel inspired to go for a walk individually during the festive season – I certainly will be doing so, enjoying the beautiful Czech countryside.
Have a good break and peaceful Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year 2012. ksodo
