Sunday 19th May – Studham/Whipsnade

Posted on Updated on

Pedley Hill January 2010

Tucked away in the south-west corner of Bedfordshire are the attractive villages of Studham (Anglo Saxon for “Home in the woods”) and Whipsnade with picture postcard landscapes and stunning views of the Chiltern Hills.                                                                         This is a pleasant rural walk, part of which is across a golf course and it takes you around the outer edge of Whipsnade Zoo. We may get to see some animals, but not guaranteed!

The walk is around 6 miles, not particularly challenging, but can be muddy in places, so boots are required. Walk will take 2.5 – 3 hours. We will then stop at the historic Bell Inn for a yummy lunch.                                                                                                                    (Interesting fact about the Bell Inn: when they were doing work to make safe the old well in the pub garden they found discarded or hidden civil war weapons)

Meet by the Natwest bank @ 11:00 a.m.

The walk will cost £7 for members, £10 for non-members as there is transport involved, depending on numbers if there is money left over we will add it to the pub lunch fund

Sign up sheet will be in the CSA from Monday 13th May, deadline for signing up is Friday 17th May at 12:00pm
